The Villa Clara Leopards baseball team, participating in the 64th National Baseball Series, was welcomed by a crowd at the Vidal Park in Santa Clara after qualifying for the postseason.

"After circling the central park, the athletes and jubilant spectators came together in countless embraces," described the official agency Prensa Latina.

After the reception, the mentor Ramón Moré spoke to the crowd.

Villa Clara qualified after defeating Ciego de Ávila 2 to 0 to secure the eighth and final spot in the playoffs.

The ranking, after nine consecutive victories, was surrounded by controversy because, due to the scheduling, Villa Clara faced either qualified teams or eliminated ones, according to Swing Completo.
