The recent releases of political prisoners in Venezuela have left touching images.
On Friday, Juan Diego Lucena, youth coordinator for the municipality of Andrés Eloy Blanco of Vente Venezuela, was released from prison, and his reunion with his daughter after 17 months in custody will go down in history.
As a "moving moment in which a young girl reunites with her father, Juan Diego Lucena, who had been arbitrarily detained at a CONAS facility in Lara, Venezuela, for 17 months by the Chavista regime and was released thanks to President Donald Trump," described journalist Eduardo Menoni on X, who shared the video.
Lucena was detained at a headquarters of the National Command Against Extortion and Kidnapping (CONAS) in the state of Lara, the independent outlet Monitoreamos reported.
The government of Venezuela's interim president Delcy Rodríguez announced a few days ago the release of 116 political prisoners following negotiations with the U.S. government.
Opposition organizations and independent journalists have reported, however, the slow pace of releases and the absence of an official record of the released prisoners.
