A Cuban creator known as @marle_nails has sparked interest on social media after sharing a TikTok video showcasing a luxurious aesthetic pedicure for which she charged 400 dollars in Miami. In the clip, the young woman explains the procedure step by step, asserting that it is an exclusive service that "cannot be found anywhere else."
However, the price was what caught the users' attention the most, who quickly filled the comments with criticisms, jokes, and memes. “It's content, no one in their right mind pays that, especially not Latinos,” wrote one user, while another quipped: “At that price, it should come with a gold chain and an iPhone.”
Several internet users agreed that the work, while professional, did not justify the cost. “I can get that same thing done for 50,” commented a follower, while another remarked with a laugh: “Not even the Russians, who are the best, charge that”. Others, however, defended the manicurist's right to set a price they consider fair for their work: “Everyone charges what they believe their effort is worth, and if there's someone willing to pay, that's great.”
In response to the surge of comments, @marle_nails replied with humor and poise. “Do you think I force people?”, she wrote. “I have clients who pay more,” she added, defending her service as a personalized experience that goes beyond just a simple pedicure.
The video, which has already surpassed hundreds of thousands of views, has sparked a debate on social media about the true value of aesthetic services in the United States, where the difference between "luxury" and "excess" seems to lie in the eyes—and the wallet—of the beholder.
