The University of Havana (UH) announced on its social media a public call for sponsorship for the Caribbean Games 2026, the most important university sports event in the country… and apparently, also a race to see who can "make history" with more logos than medals.

Under the slogan “With soul, knowledge, and dedication: together we build the Caribbean Games 2026,” the institution invites companies, organizations, and cultural and sports institutions to join as "allies."

According to the call for submissions, sponsorships can be monetary, in kind, or occasional, with negotiable counter-responses that include the presence of the sponsor's logo on posters, social media, broadcasts, and booths.

The university defines this collaboration as an "ethical and transparent alliance," aimed at strengthening university autonomy and projecting the brand of the participating entities "in a space of prestige and visibility."

"To sponsor is to sow the future. Join the Caribbean Games 2026 and connect your brand with the energy of the UH," states one of the graphic materials shared on the university's official accounts.

The announcement, presented with an institutional aesthetic and a motivational tone, emphasizes that supporting the Caribbean Games means backing university sports and the history of the university itself, which the UH describes as an alliance that is "not only commercial but also ethical."

In times of budget constraints, the call for sponsorship also reflects a new chapter for the Cuban academic field: one where making history may also involve funding it.
