The Cuban reggaeton artist Abel Díaz Rodríguez, known professionally as El Chulo, was arrested on January 22 by agents from the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in the United States.

According to the official website of the agency, the artist's name is listed as detained. Later, journalist Mario J. Pentón confirmed the news and specified that, according to sources close to the musician, the arrest was due to an outstanding deportation order.

So far, no additional details have been provided regarding the circumstances of the arrest or the location where the interpreter of Malianteo and La Habana me llama is being held.

Hours before his arrest, El Chulo shared an image on his Instagram stories that caught the attention of his followers. In the post, the artist displayed a Florida Lottery ticket with the message:

"This is a scam, I have never gotten even 10 shui pesos." That was his last post before his arrest became known.

The musician had already faced a similar situation in 2018 when he was detained by ICE after attending an appointment at the Miami-Dade County immigration offices. On that occasion, he was subsequently released under supervision.

El Chulo, one of the most prominent exponents of the Cuban urban genre in Miami, has maintained an active career on social media and stages, blending his music with commentary on the situation in Cuba and the lives of Cubans in exile.
