A video posted on TikTok by the user @navedosalvarez has created a stir on social media by showcasing a luxurious blue Ford Raptor driving through Cuban streets, accompanied by the phrase: "It's not the same to have it in the USA as it is in Yuma."
The images show the vehicle with a Cuban license plate, indicating that it is registered for private use on the island. The truck—valued at over 80 thousand dollars in the United States—stands out for its rugged design, large tires, and carbon fiber accents in its interior.
The video, recorded in what appears to be a residential neighborhood in Cuba, shows both the exterior and interior of the vehicle, featuring luxury details that are uncommon in the country, where state salaries barely exceed 4,000 Cuban pesos (less than 15 dollars a month at the informal exchange rate).
The post has generated hundreds of comments and reactions, many of them surprised by the presence of such a high-end truck in Cuba, where the import of modern cars is a privilege reserved for very few.
While some users praised the owner's display of wealth, others criticized the stark contrast with the harsh economic reality faced by most Cubans.
"That's in Cuba like having an airplane," commented an internet user. Another added with irony: "It's not the same having it in Miami as it is in Marianao."
The expression “la Yuma” is commonly used in Cuba to refer to the United States, so the message of the video plays with the idea that the value or status of a vehicle changes dramatically depending on the country in which it is owned.
