The Cuban TikToker @dieego_blogger shared a video that has gone viral, showcasing what he could buy with 20 dollars in Cuba, an amount that, according to him, was sent by a follower from abroad.

"In today's video, I'm going to show you everything I bought with 20 dollars, so come with me," says the young man at the beginning of the clip posted on his TikTok account.

Among the products displayed are a bag of rice for 4 dollars, a package of sugar for 2.18, a bottle of sunflower oil for 3.13, a tube of ham that cost 5.10, a pack of sausages for 2.87, and a bar of bath soap for 2.41 dollars. In total, their purchases amount to the 20 dollars received.

The video, recorded from what appears to be a modest home, reflects the difficulty Cubans face in accessing basic products, even with foreign currency, due to the high prices in MLC stores or in the informal market.

"This is everything I could buy with 20 dollars," concludes the young man, displaying the few items he managed to gather on a table. The post has generated hundreds of comments from users who lament the situation and compare the prices to those in other countries in the region.

Inflation and the depreciation of the Cuban peso have caused prices to soar in recent years, while state salaries remain insufficient. In practice, many Cubans rely on the money sent by their relatives from abroad to survive.
