The Cuban content creator Yannys Real (@yannys_real) reacted harshly to the detention of the young people associated with the independent project El4tico and sent a direct message to the Cuban regime in a video that has garnered thousands of views on social media.
“What happened, buddy? They pressured two kids in a little room. Weren’t you guys the revolution and ready to go?” questioned Yannys, referring to the arrest of Kamil Zayas Pérez and Ernesto Ricardo Medina, who have been detained since February 6 during a police operation in Holguín.
The influencer criticized the use of fear as a tool of control and asserted that this mechanism no longer works in today's Cuba.
"Your mistake is thinking that with passages like those you will maintain fear in Cuba. There is no more fear. This is not like before," he stated. In a direct tone, he added, "Everyone is on fire. Your time is running out. You are desperate."
The statements from Yannys Real come in a context marked by an unusual judicial decision. On February 9, the Provincial People's Court of Holguín accepted a habeas corpus petition in favor of the youths from El4tico, compelling the prosecution to officially explain the charges, the conditions of detention, and the legality of the arrest.
The court even deemed the "immediate release" of both individuals to be of interest, upon detecting potential violations of fundamental rights.
In his message, Yannys went beyond the specific case and rejected any negotiated solution with those in power.
"The Cubans do not want negotiation or to sit down and talk. You all are going out. Cuba and communism are no longer the same thing," he stated.
His words add to the increasing support inside and outside the island for the young people of El4tico.
