Energy crisis forces U.S. embassy in Havana to reduce services

The U.S. diplomatic mission in Cuba announced on its social media that it will limit in-person services to conserve fuel and optimize energy usage.

Through a routine message posted on Thursday, the U.S. Embassy in Havana announced that it will reduce its services at the facility to Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

On Mondays and Fridays, it will only open for emergency services for U.S. citizens.

According to the diplomatic representation, the measure aims to conserve fuel and optimize energy consumption amid the complex situation the country is facing.

The embassy also specified that U.S. citizens can reach out by phone at +(53) (7) 839-4100, and outside of business hours, they should dial 1 and then 0.

She also recalled that she keeps her information channels active through email and social media.

Regarding the venue, the United States recently announced that it will toughen measures against Cuban citizens identified as participants in acts of repudiation and organized protests against U.S. diplomats in Havana.
