The Cuban singer Lenier Mesa expressed his support for an urgent change in his country and called for the unity of all who share that desire.

"We want a change for our island; in the end, we all fight for the same thing: Cuba to be free, amen," he expressed on his Instagram.

Lenier shared an emotional video about his vision for the future of Cuba, expressing his desire for the Island to finally achieve freedom.

In the material, he combined real images with those generated by artificial intelligence that reflect various moments and realities of Cuba's recent history and its current crisis, to illustrate his critical stance against the dictatorship.

It included the moment when Díaz-Canel called for the repression of the people during the protests on July 11, 2021, as well as videos of the civic demonstrations both in Cuba and in Miami, where Cuban exiles gathered in support of their compatriots on the island.

The video also features statements from Raúl Castro on state television asserting that he will not renounce the principles of communism, along with scenes depicting the poverty and misery that are part of the everyday life of many Cubans.

Lenier also included images of the two young members of the independent project El4tico who are currently detained in Holguín, as a reflection of the repression against critical voices on the Island.

Accompanying the images, one can hear a song by Lenier with a message of hope: "The light is already visible, just like it happened in Venezuela, one day we will return and shout our freedom."

His stance and criticism of the Cuban regime

Lenier Mesa's publication aligns with his openly critical stance towards the Cuban regime and his rejection of the way the political system operates.

Last month, during his participation in the reality show "El Rancho de Destino," the artist made it clear that "I am not interested in anything about the government of Cuba, I hope it falls tomorrow" and emphasized that he has no ties or interest in supporting the current government.

He expressed that he does not return to the island because, in his words, "Cuba gives me nothing, neither as an artist nor as a business," and he stated that he is seeking a profound change so that, in the future, there can be more economic and development opportunities.

Lenier has recounted personal experiences of censorship and restrictions during previous visits to Cuba, where authorities prevented him from appearing in public on one occasion, which reinforced his critical view of state control over artistic and cultural activities.

Your message arrives in a context where several artists, activists, and public figures have expressed support for freedom of expression and solidarity with independent projects in Cuba, many of which have faced reprisals for openly criticizing the government.
