Rocío Monasterio rejected the notion that the Spanish government could act as an ally of the Cuban regime after it was announced that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, would meet in Madrid with Cuba's Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez.

Albares will meet with his Cuban counterpart this Monday afternoon to discuss the situation on the island and also to address the upcoming Ibero-American Summit that will take place in November in Madrid.

The meeting was requested by Rodríguez, who was visiting China to gather support in response to the energy blockade imposed by the United States.

In reaction to that meeting, Monasterio wrote on her X account that "the Spanish government cannot be an ally of a dictatorship like the Cuban dictatorship."

He added that "castroism has destroyed the Cubans, curtailed their freedom, and obliterated their most fundamental rights."

The businesswoman and architect further stated that "the Spanish government must be an ally of the Cuban people, not of their torturer, in order to achieve their freedom after 67 years of horror," and asserted that "the Spanish and Cubans are brothers."
