Cuban-American Congresswoman María Elvira Salazar stated that "the day of freedom for Cuba is closer than ever" in a message directed to the people of the island, published on her social media.

“The regime knows it, the people feel it, and nothing will stop what is coming,” the legislator wrote on her X account, accompanying her words with the flags of Cuba and the United States.

The message was illustrated with a symbolic image, created by The Guardian, depicting the Cuban flag in front of a bald eagle, a bird that represents the national symbol of the United States.

The composition suggests a moment of confrontation and change, in line with the tone of the statement.

Salazar, one of the strongest voices in the U.S. Congress against the Cuban regime, has repeatedly expressed his support for a democratic transition on the island and his backing for policies that apply pressure on Havana.

Its publication comes in a context of rising regional tension and renewed international pressure on the regime, while inside Cuba, the economic crisis, shortages, and restrictions on fundamental freedoms persist.

The message was received by followers as a sign of hope and reaffirms the narrative that political change on the island may be closer than many anticipate.
