The Argentine content creator Mary Low Cost, known on social media as @viaja.haceloposible, reported that the hotel where she was staying in Cuba will close just one day after her arrival.
In a video posted on February 15, 2026, the influencer explained that she arrived at the hotel Las Dunas, in Cayo Santa María, checked in, and was informed right there that the establishment will close this Monday.
"We are in Cuba, and we've just been informed that our hotel is closing tomorrow," she said at the beginning of the video.
The resort staff informed them that they must be in the lobby at 2:00 p.m. to be transferred to another hotel, although they had not yet confirmed which one it would be.
Mary stated that there were "very few people" at the tourist facility and that, due to the low occupancy, they will consolidate guests from several hotels in the area into one.
He also mentioned that, during lunch, a worker explained to him that when a hotel closes, the employees "are sent directly home" and are left without a job.
The creator stated that, despite being in "peak season," there is very little tourism in Cuba. As an example, she mentioned that they traveled alone on the transport from Havana to the cay.
The Las Dunas Hotel is managed by Meliá. The Spanish company decided in early February to reduce its hotel availability in Cuba and adjust it to the current levels of tourist occupancy in the country.
The closure of this hotel occurs in the midst of a deep economic crisis, characterized by a shortage of fuel and cuts impacting the population.
The fact that two tourists are transported alone to a tourist pole to spend a night and then relocated shows issues in planning and management in a sector that is key to the Cuban economy.
The Argentine tourist promised to share in an upcoming video which hotel they will be moved to and how their stay in Cuba continues.
