The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that Secretary of State Marco Rubio is holding discussions with Cuba in the context of the severe energy crisis the island is experiencing.

On board Air Force One, and in a exchange with the press, Trump confirmed that ongoing contacts exist and indicated that Rubio is directly involved in the dialogue.

“We are talking to Cuba right now. Marco Rubio is talking to Cuba,” he expressed.

The leader described the island as a nation in crisis and stated that the lack of fuel and economic limitations have created a situation that requires attention.

According to him, a potential agreement could impact both regional stability and the Cuban-American community in the United States.

Trump did not provide details about the content of the conversations or any possible conditions for an agreement.

It also did not specify whether these are formal negotiations or preliminary exchanges.

The statements come amid the tightening of economic pressure from Washington, which includes energy restrictions and measures aimed at limiting Havana's access to financing and crude oil supplies.

The President hinted that an agreement would be beneficial for both parties, although he refrained from outlining the specific terms of what his administration would be willing to negotiate.
