A young first-time mother at 35.4 weeks of pregnancy was treated on Monday in the municipality of Los Arabos, Matanzas, after experiencing a high-risk delivery outside of a hospital.

According to the information provided by the Provincial Health Directorate of Matanzas on its official channels, the patient arrived from the village of Cuatro Esquinas following a breech birth, with a cord around the neck and meconium present, conditions that increase the risk for both the mother and the newborn.

The entity stated that, given the complexity of the situation, the medical and nursing staff activated the appropriate protocols to stabilize both patients.

Subsequently, the necessary measures were implemented to ensure the specialized care required in these cases.

Health authorities highlighted that the situation was critical at the time of arrival, although they did not provide additional details regarding the subsequent condition of the mother and the baby.

The event was described as a day of high tension for the health team that intervened in the emergency.

The incident highlights the risks associated with births that take place outside of hospital settings, especially when there are obstetric complications that require immediate attention and specialized resources.

Moreover, it raises other concerns: How is it possible that a country that prides itself on having an excellent primary health care system could allow this to happen?

While the incident merits praise for the medical team that prevented greater harm, it also highlights the collapse of the healthcare system under the Cuban regime.

Moreover, this critical situation is not an isolated incident. A gynecology and obstetrics team from Ramón González Coro Hospital in Havana, conducted surgery in complete darkness during a power outage, using the light from cell phones to continue the procedure.

Although described as a specific event, the scene highlights a structural vulnerability of the hospital system, marked by recurring power outages and outdated equipment, as stated by the official profile on Facebook Naturaleza Secreta.
