The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reignited the immigration debate after releasing a message in which it blames the Joe Biden administration for having "manufactured a crisis" at the southern border, allowing—according to the agency—the entry of millions of foreigners without proper verification.

On its official account on the social network X, ICE stated that the southern border is now "secure" thanks to President Donald Trump, as well as the joint efforts of the Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The organization assured that it will continue removing immigrants in irregular situations from within the country and reiterated that its work to "defend the homeland" is ongoing.

The statements come in a context where the agency has faced increasing unpopularity and scrutiny from political sectors, civil rights organizations, and pro-immigrant activists, who criticize the tightening of detention and deportation policies.

For its detractors, the language used by ICE—such as the term "criminal aliens"—reinforces a narrative that generalizes and stigmatizes entire migrant communities.

Various organizations have warned that this type of discourse contributes to polarization and the rise of social tensions.

On their part, supporters of the current immigration policy argue that border control and strict law enforcement are necessary to ensure national security and restore order in the U.S. immigration system.

The debate over immigration continues to be one of the most divisive issues in the United States, especially in a political landscape characterized by stark contrasts between the policies implemented in recent years and the current approach of enhanced border security and internal law enforcement.
