Man shot and killed at Mar-a-Lago identified by Secret Service

Police sources reported that Austin Tucker Martin was the man shot dead on Sunday by the United States Secret Service in the security perimeter of Mar-a-Lago, the residence of President Donald Trump in Florida.

According to NBC, which obtained the information exclusively, Tucker Martin was 21 years old and was from North Carolina. He had been reported missing according to a Facebook post by his mother on Sunday morning.

According to information from AP, Martin left North Carolina and drove south in the days leading up to the incident.

The young man shared on social media drawings and watercolors of golf courses from his region.

The shooting

Tucker Martin attempted to illegally enter Mar-A-Lago with a shotgun and a can of gasoline.

The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. (local time) when agents detected an unauthorized entry onto the property of the Republican official, located in Palm Beach.

The official statement clarified that at the time of the incident, there was no one under the direct protection of the Secret Service at the location, indicating that President Trump was not at the residence.

According to the statement shared on social media by the authorities, the individual was found at the north gate of Mar-a-Lago with what appeared to be a firearm and a gas canister.

After being confronted by Secret Service agents and officers from the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office, a shootout occurred in which the suspect was killed.

The statement emphasized that no law enforcement officers were injured during the incident.

The case is under investigation to clarify the exact circumstances of what happened. As part of the usual protocol, the officers involved in the use of lethal force have been placed on temporary administrative leave while the inquiries proceed.

The Secret Service reiterated that it maintains strict security measures regarding the residences and movements of the President of the United States.
