The official report from the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) regarding the infiltration of a speedboat from Florida, carrying 10 armed crew members and alleged "terrorist plans," raises questions about whether the Cuban regime was aware of the operation in advance.

Four people died in the confrontation with the Border Guard Troops, and six were detained, according to the official report.

The hypothesis of a possible prior knowledge was suggested by the Cuban journalist Wilfredo Cancio Isla in a Facebook post, where he noted that the disclosed elements indicate an operation that could have been infiltrated by Cuban intelligence.

The keys are in a speech by Díaz-Canel

On February 5th, during a press conference at the Palace of the Revolution regarding the worsening crisis in Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel revealed that there were alleged violent plans against the country.

"I would tell you more. Today, we are aware of plans for terrorist acts that are being supported, funded, and prepared in the United States to attack Cuba during times like these. At the appropriate time, we will provide the information and make all the necessary denunciations," he stated.

In that appearance, the ruler also questioned why the United States keeps Cuba on the list of state sponsors of terrorism. There were no follow-up questions about those alleged plans, as all the press gathered with the ruler is aligned with the regime.

Detentions and pending doubts

In its second statement regarding the incident off the coast of Corralillo, the MININT reported the detention of Duniel Hernández Santos within national territory, identified as the alleged individual responsible for receiving the cargo transported on the vessel.

According to the official statement, the detainee allegedly confessed to his involvement in the incident. However, the authorities did not specify the date of his arrest. This detail is crucial. If he was arrested before the attempt to enter by sea, it would indicate that the operation did not take the Cuban security forces by surprise.

Details about the identity of three deceased individuals are still pending. The governments of Cuba and the United States are continuing their investigations into the real origin and organization of the plan.

The armed confrontation occurs at a particularly sensitive moment in the relationship between Havana and Washington.
