The Cuban influencer Alex Otaola reacted to the statements made by ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel regarding the armed confrontation that took place on February 25 in the territorial waters of Villa Clara, which resulted in four deaths and seven injuries.

After several hours of silence from the Cuban power structure, Díaz-Canel published a message on his account on X in which he stated: “Cuba does not aggress or threaten. We have asserted this repeatedly, and we reaffirm it today. Cuba will defend itself with determination and firmness against any terrorist and mercenary aggression aimed at affecting its sovereignty and national stability.”

The statement heightened the political tone of the incident and integrated it into the official narrative of defending sovereignty against alleged external aggressions, in this case from the United States.

Otaola responded on the same social network questioning Díaz-Canel.

"A fishing boat is terrorism. The movie you all have concocted has no end. Ten fools to you are an army. In short! The never-ending story," the presenter wrote, referring to the "terrorist" label assigned by the authorities to the group traveling in the vessel.

This Wednesday, the Ministry of the Interior reported that a boat registered in Florida was detected in Cuban waters, and a shooting occurred when border guard forces attempted to identify it.

Of the 10 men on the vessel, four died and six were injured. The seventh injured person was the commander of the Cuban border guard troop.

Otaola's reaction adds to other critical voices that question the government narrative, while the regime insists on framing the incident as an attack against national security.
