Mabelaine Romero, identified as the girlfriend of Ledián Padrón Guevara, publicly called for "justice" for the death of the young man, 25 years old, following an incident involving a boat in Cuba.
Visibly affected, in a conversation with journalist Javier Díaz from Univision 23, Romero asserted that he “was not a terrorist” and described him as someone “very good, very noble,” in addition to being a “patriot” and a lover of “Cuba's freedom.”
In her testimony, the young woman called on the "Cuban people" to unite in order to demand justice "for the fallen," in a message filled with sorrow over the loss.
In the video, Romero expresses disbelief and anguish over the death of Padrón Guevara: “I still can’t believe it,” he says, emphasizing the impact of the tragedy due to the age of the deceased: “He was only twenty-five years old.”
It also emphasizes the magnitude of the pain that families experience when they lose a loved one "and even more so in cases of this magnitude," according to their words.
Through tears, Romero reiterates his demand: "This cannot be left like this! We need to seek justice!" and calls for collective support: "Cuban people, let us unite and seek justice for the fallen!"
In that fragment, the young woman directly mentions Ledián Padrón Guevara and reinforces her defense of the deceased: "He was not a terrorist."
Ledián Padrón Guevara, 25 years old, reportedly died on February 25 during an armed confrontation that occurred off the northern coast of Villa Clara between a boat coming from Florida and units of the Border Guard Troops.
Her identity was revealed from Miami by journalist Javier Díaz, who claimed to have been in contact with the family.
Although the Ministry of the Interior (MININT) confirmed the death of four people during the operation, it has only officially identified one of them so far.
The name of Padrón Guevara does not appear in the official report, but, as Díaz explained, his family fears that he may be among the deceased because he is not listed among the survivors released by the authorities.
In a recent report, the journalist showed images of Ledián alongside Cristian Acosta carrying long firearms.
