France, the United Kingdom, and Germany offered to cooperate with the U.S. in "proportionate defensive actions" against Iran

The French president, Emmanuel Macron, the British prime minister, Keir Starmer, and the German chancellor, Friedrich Merz, demanded that the Iranian regime halt the "indiscriminate attacks" in the region, in a joint statement, according to El País.

"The reckless attacks by Iran have targeted our close allies and are threatening our service personnel and civilians in the region," the statement says.

"We will take measures to defend our interests and those of our allies in the region, potentially with necessary and proportionate defensive actions to destroy Iran's capability to launch missiles and drones from their origin," they added.

This Sunday, strong explosions were reported near the British Royal Air Force (RAF) base at Akrotiri in Cyprus, according to British media.

Previously, Stamer authorized the use of British bases by the U.S. in the Middle East to target Iran's missile depots.

"We have made the decision to accept this request to prevent Iran from launching missiles across the region, killing innocent civilians, and putting the lives of British citizens at risk, as well as attacking countries that are not involved," he explained.

Macron, for his part, said on Saturday that "France is ready to deploy the necessary means for the protection of its closest partners if they request it."

"The Iranian people must be able to freely build their future. The massacres perpetrated by the Islamic regime disqualify it and demand that the voice be returned to the people," he added.

A French naval base in Abu Dhabi was attacked by drones on Sunday, according to French Defense Minister Catherine Vautrin, with no fatalities or injuries reported.
