The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that the military offensive launched against the Iranian regime is an unprecedented event and assured that “the world is witnessing something historic” following the bombings that began in the last few hours.
In an official statement, the leader asserted that the operation, named "Epic Fury," is "one of the largest, most complex, and overwhelming military offensives the world has ever seen."
He added that “no one has seen anything like this,” while defending the significance of the joint deployment with Israel.
Trump stated that within the first 36 hours, hundreds of targets were hit in Iranian territory, including Revolutionary Guard facilities and air defense systems.
He also stated that nine ships and the naval headquarters of the country were destroyed in a matter of minutes.
The president confirmed the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and stated that “the entire military leadership” of the regime has been eliminated. According to him, several leaders are seeking to surrender and are requesting immunity.
Operations continue “with full force” and will persist until all military objectives set by Washington are achieved, the president specified.
The United States Central Command reported that three American soldiers died during the operation and five others were seriously injured.
The president expressed condolences to the families and assured that the country will avenge their deaths.
In his message, Trump defended the military action as necessary to prevent the Iranian regime from having nuclear weapons and long-range missiles.
"We are not going to allow a radical terrorist regime to possess that kind of weaponry," he stated.
He also called on members of the Revolutionary Guard, the army, and the police forces to lay down their arms and accept immunity, warning that otherwise they would face "certain death."
He also urged Iranian citizens who want political change to “seize the moment.”
The offensive marks a new phase of tension in the Middle East and has generated diplomatic and economic repercussions on an international level, while military operations in the region continue.
