Family members and neighbors of an elderly woman identified as Oelia are urgently requesting blood donations in Ciego de Ávila to undergo surgery following a household accident.
According to a post shared on Facebook by Guillermo Rodríguez Sánchez, the woman suffered a fall that resulted in a hip fracture, a common injury among older adults that necessitates surgery.
According to the call, Oelia needs at least two blood donors with O positive or O negative blood type, as she has lost a significant amount of blood and needs to be stabilized for surgery.
Several neighbors tried to help by donating blood, but they were unable to do so because they had recently suffered from chikungunya, which temporarily disqualifies them from making donations.
The family is seeking the community's help to find donors as soon as possible.
Anyone who can donate O positive or O negative blood can contact Maritza, the patient's daughter, at the phone number 53038416.
The family also asks those who do not have that blood type to share the information to help find donors and increase the chances that Oelia can receive the urgent operation she needs.
