A young Cuban shared an emotional video on social media in which he breaks down in tears while describing the daily struggles he faces due to the prolonged blackouts on the island.
In the video posted on TikTok by the user @elcubanitosinfiltro, the young man explains that he has been forced to cook with charcoal for several days because the lack of electricity prevents him from preparing food normally.
"I’m not here to complain, but I need to vent on my platform," he says at the beginning of the video, visibly affected, while showing the clothes piled up in his house that he hasn’t been able to dry.
According to the account, he barely managed to soften a few beans before the power went out. "I didn't have time for anything," he laments.
The young man shares that he even had to learn how to light charcoal, something he had never done before, in order to cook during the blackouts that affect his community.
"We've been eating around 11 at night for about four days, starting the coals," he explains.
The situation is further complicated because she lives on the second floor of a building, which causes the coal smoke to accumulate inside the apartment.
"It felt like they were setting the house on fire. My clothes were all filled with smoke," he recounts.
It also describes the anguish of cooking under those conditions in the apartment, where the smoke and lack of ventilation create a feeling of suffocation.
Through tears, the young man admits that he usually tries to approach difficulties with humor, but he acknowledges that the current situation has overwhelmed him.
"I had never reached this point. I always laughed at misfortunes, but today I feel a great rage," she concludes.
The video has gone viral on social media, where numerous Cubans have shared similar experiences in light of the energy crisis that continues to affect much of the country.
