A Cuban woman shared on TikTok the troubling story of how she and her mother spent three days without electricity in their home, a situation that culminated in both of them having lunch at 1:30 in the morning after spending practically the entire morning fasting.
The video, published by the user @lucia.perdomo88, shows step by step how they tried to manage the day's meals with the little money that was left from the monthly salary.
“If you are watching this video with power, appreciate that, because we have been without electricity for three days,” the young woman says at the beginning of the recording.
According to her account, she and her mother checked the money they still had available from the month's salary to see what they could buy. With what they had, they managed to buy a pound of chicken and decided to make a broth.
The preparation of the dish took hours due to the lack of electricity, a situation that complicates everyday tasks in many homes on the island.
Throughout the entire process, both transmitted live on TikTok, and numerous users followed the stream as they showcased each step of the recipe.
"We spent the whole day doing it, and many of you stayed with us on the live stream, accompanying us and watching step by step how we prepared it," she explained.
Finally, after long hours of waiting, mother and daughter were able to sit down to eat around 1:30 in the morning.
Despite the difficulties, the young woman shared that they ended the day with something sweet: a pudding that, as she said, “tasted divine.”
He also reported that, after three full days without electricity, the service returned for just one hour, during which they were able to do something as simple as drink cold water.
"Yesterday, after three days without electricity, we were given an hour of power, and something as simple as having cold water felt like a luxury," he stated.
The video has generated numerous reactions on social media, where many users expressed solidarity with the family and with other Cubans facing similar situations due to the prolonged blackouts in the country.
