The Cuban influencer Samantha Hernández is at the center of a heated controversy on social media after posting a video in which she explained why she avoids discussing politics or speaking out about the situation in Cuba, comments that have sparked a wave of criticism.

In the clip, the content creator assured that she usually avoids discussing that topic because she feels she does not have enough information. “I am a person who does not talk about politics, primarily because I don't know. I have no sort of information, I know the basics and what we all know,” she stated.

"I don't like to delve into topics I'm not familiar with," added Samantha, a statement that many users interpreted as a lack of interest in being informed about what is happening in her own country.

Hernández also defended his stance by stating that discussing the situation in Cuba has become a business for many people on social media. "I feel that the topic of politics in my country is a business for many people... and I don’t want to be part of that circus," he said.

Additionally, he made it clear that he does not intend to comment on the matter due to pressure from other users. "I will not discuss the situation in my country when you want me to speak. I will speak when I feel I should. I will talk about what I want, how I want," he stated.

The influencer also stated that, in her view, social media does not have a real impact on what happens on the island. "The world already knows what is happening in Cuba. I'm not going to change anything from a phone. Not even if 50,000 influencers join together," she commented.

His words generated a strong reaction among many internet users. “You don’t need to know about politics to understand what is happening in Cuba,” wrote one user. Another added, “Don’t you like to delve into topics you’re unfamiliar with? That’s called studying.” Meanwhile, the debate continues to grow on social media regarding the role of influencers when it comes to discussing the Cuban reality.
