A young Cuban woman has gone viral on TikTok after revealing that she decided to quit her job as a bank teller in Cuba, where —as she mentioned— she earned just 9 dollars a month, to fully dedicate herself to creating content on social media.
The protagonist of the video is Elianys Echazabal (@elianys.echazabal), who explained to her followers that she made the decision to leave her job at a bank in her hometown to pursue a completely different path.
“I left my job in Cuba to dedicate myself 100% to social media,” she said in the video, where she mentioned that the clip would be the last one in which she discusses her experience as a bank teller.
The young woman acknowledges that for many, her decision may seem risky, as she left what many consider a stable job. “For many, it will seem crazy because I left a stable job, what many call security,” she expressed.
However, she stated that she no longer wanted to rely solely on that stability. "I didn't want security; I want personal growth, freedom, and a slightly better life. I got tired of counting someone else's money while my dreams kept waiting," she affirmed.
In the comments of the video, Echazabal also revealed the salary he earned in that job. “I was making 9 dollars a month at my job,” he replied to a follower who asked if it was worth leaving the position.
His decision generated numerous reactions among users. Many sent him messages of support and wished him success in this new phase. “It’s scary, but it’s worth pursuing your dreams,” wrote one person, while another user commented: “With five dollars, it’s better not to work.”
Despite the doubts expressed by some, the young woman assures that she is convinced of her choice. "After fear and risk comes success. I'm betting on myself," she concluded in her video.
