Authorities in Miami-Dade County are requesting assistance in locating the driver of a black SUV who violently struck an Amazon delivery worker and fled the scene without offering help.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, March 4, at the intersection of Southwest 20th Street and 140th Place, in the west of the county.

A security camera recorded the exact moment when the woman got out of her delivery truck, crossed the street without looking, and at that moment was struck by the vehicle.

The vehicle has been described by witnesses as a black SUV, possibly a 2020 or 2021 Chevrolet Equinox, that was traveling at high speed eastbound.

The impact was so violent that the worker spun 360 degrees in the air, packages flew out, and broken glass was scattered all over the street.

A man who was walking with his daughter ran to assist the victim and described the scene in statements to the local press.

"He hit her and she spun around 360 degrees in the air. She had a hole in her pants. She was bleeding, and there were Amazon packages and broken glass all over the street," the witness stated.

The same source added that the driver, upon realizing the impact, accelerated even more to flee the scene.

Another witness, identified as Stephanie Garcia, arrived shortly after and found the woman lying on the ground unable to move.

"I was coming back from work and I see the package in the middle of the street, broken, its hat on the other side, and her lying on the ground unable to move. She was just moving her hands, I suppose she was just sending messages to her boss or her family," he recounted.

Paramedics arrived quickly and transported the victim to a local hospital.

Amazon confirmed that the host is recovering at home while receiving medical care, and clarified that they are cooperating with the authorities.

The company also clarified that the delivery person is not a direct employee of Amazon, but rather an independent delivery service partner operating under the company's platform.

The detectives from the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office (MDSO) continue to investigate the case and have not reported any arrests.

Neighbors in the area noted that the intersection is known for regular speeding and that they have unsuccessfully requested the installation of speed bumps.

"People walk down our street without a second thought. I hope they catch him. What he did was ridiculous and unbelievable, just hitting someone and carrying on," stated a neighbor.

The case adds to a disturbing pattern of hit-and-runs in Miami-Dade.

This month, Víctor Rubio was sentenced to 18 years in prison for fatally hitting the Cuban Tomás Brito on Calle 8 and fleeing in his BMW, falsely reporting the theft of the vehicle.

Anyone with information about the fugitive driver can call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS, with the possibility of receiving a reward of up to 5,000 dollars.
