The President of the United States, Donald Trump, stated that his country has defeated and "completely decimated" Iran in both military and economic terms, amid the escalation of conflict in the Middle East.
In a publicly disseminated message, the president stated that Washington has managed to prevail over Tehran on various fronts.
“The United States of America has completely defeated and devastated Iran, both militarily and economically and in all other aspects,” declared Trump.
The president also spoke about the situation in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the most important maritime routes for global oil trade, through which nearly one-fifth of the world's crude oil passes.
After the new supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Mojtaba Jamenei, threatened on Thursday to close the Strait of Hormuz, Trump stated that countries receiving oil through this maritime passage must take responsibility for its protection, although he assured that the United States would provide support.
"The countries of the world that receive oil through the Strait of Hormuz must take responsibility for that passage, and we will help, a lot!” he stated.
The president added that the United States will coordinate with those nations to ensure that transit through the area remains stable.
According to Trump, this international cooperation could contribute to greater global stability.
"This should always have been a team effort, and now it will be. It will unite the world towards harmony, security, and lasting peace," he stated.
The statements come amid rising tensions in the Persian Gulf, where the Strait of Hormuz has become a key strategic point for global energy supply and a focal point of concern for international oil markets.
