A Cuban woman reported that the police carried out a heavy operation at her home in Morón, Ciego de Ávila, where they abruptly detained a young man from Havana who was visiting, amid the tension that the city is experiencing following the recent protests against power outages and shortages.

In a video sent to the journalist from Martí Noticias, Mario J. Pentón, the woman recounted that several agents surrounded her house at noon "as if it were a crime scene" before entering and taking away the young man identified as Josuam Naranjo, a resident of Havana.

“They surrounded my house… they jumped over to the house of the neighbor across the street and the one next door. They entered inciting people to rebel against them,” the woman stated in her testimony.

According to what he explained, the young man was having lunch at that moment when the agents burst into the house.

“They took the plate from his hand and took it away. They didn’t even allow him to put on flip-flops,” he stated.

The complainant stated that family members have gone to the station of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) to try to obtain information about her whereabouts, but so far they have not received any details nor have they been allowed to bring her clothes.

“From my house, they have gone to the PNR to request information or to at least allow him to pass a change of clothes,” he explained.

In the video, the woman requested help to ensure that the message reaches the detained person's family.

"I need the family to know about him," she said, aware of the risks she might face for making the complaint public.

"I know that this could get me into a lot of trouble. I have my kids in Cuba, and I understand the consequences it could bring, but I am tired of the injustice," she expressed.

The detainment takes place in a context of high tension in Morón following the protests that occurred on Friday night, when residents took to the streets to express their discontent over the prolonged blackouts, food shortages, and the severe economic crisis plaguing the country.

According to the official media Invasor, at least five people were detained during these demonstrations, which included the burning of furniture, documents, and symbols of the regime in front of the municipal headquarters of the Communist Party.

Numerous videos have also circulated on social media where cries of "Freedom!" and the sounds of pots and pans can be heard as groups of residents marched through various streets of the municipality.

So far, Cuban authorities have not publicly disclosed the names of the detainees or any possible charges against them.
