Nicky Jam once again left everyone shocked by sharing, without any filters, one of the hardest episodes of his life: the reason his mother was deported from the United States when he was just a child.
During his participation in The Juanpis Live Show, the singer recalled that he stopped seeing his mother at the age of 8, an absence that has deeply affected him. “It was tough for me,” he confessed.
But what surprised the most was when he explained the reason for the deportation. Amid laughter, the artist shared a story that was both shocking and unexpected: "It's funny, but it isn't... she stabbed a man 7 times."
According to his account, the case was presented as self-defense, and although he wasn't in court, the story remained etched in his mind due to how his mother's lawyer recounted it years later. “They asked her, ‘Why did you stab him 7 times?’ and she replied, ‘Because he kept getting up,’” he shared, highlighting one of the most discussed moments of the interview.
Despite the impact of the story, Nicky Jam made it clear that there is a much deeper emotional background to it. For years, his greatest motivation was to reunite with his mother. "I thought that if I became famous enough, I would be able to find her," he explained.
And so it was. In 2015, during a concert in the Dominican Republic, his mother appeared, and they were reunited after 20 years apart, in a moment that the artist himself describes as one of the most important of his life.
Since then, they have maintained a close relationship, although it is marked by immigration restrictions. The singer revealed that he continues to fight for his mother to be able to enter the United States again, while visiting her between Colombia and the Dominican Republic, where he even bought her a house.
"Through music, I achieved the most important thing in my life, which is my mom," he concluded.
