The Venezuelan team was crowned champion of the 2026 World Baseball Classic after defeating the United States 3-2 in an exciting final held in Miami, thus achieving its first title in the history of the tournament.

The Venezuelan team relied on a strong performance from their pitching staff and timely hitting at crucial moments.

Among the standout offensive players were Wilyer Abreu and Eugenio Suárez, with the latter being responsible for the decisive play that secured the victory in the final innings.

The game remained scoreless throughout the night. The United States managed to tie the score in the eighth inning thanks to a two-run home run by Bryce Harper, but Venezuela responded shortly after to regain the decisive lead.

On the mound, pitcher Eduardo Rodríguez delivered a key performance by containing one of the tournament's most powerful lineups, while the Venezuelan bullpen once again stood out following their excellent performance in the previous rounds.

The title crowns a remarkable performance by the South American team, which had already made waves by eliminating the defending champion Japan and then progressing to the final after defeating Italy in the semifinals.

The victory represents a historic achievement for the South American nation, which had never won the World Baseball Classic, and confirms the growth of baseball in that country, which managed to triumph over traditional powerhouses like the United States.

Many have pointed out that "the Venezuela without Nicolás Maduro" has achieved its first classic.

For her part, the country's president, Delcy Rodríguez, celebrated with a post on her X account in which she mentioned the victory but also proclaimed "Honor to the vanquished," amidst the new bilateral relations with the United States.

"Venezuela triumphs united! For the first time, we are champions of the World Baseball Classic. This victory is a celebration of the passion, talent, and unity that define us as Venezuelans. An achievement that will forever remain in the heart of our country," was posted minutes after the game ended.
