The Venezuelan journalist Germania Rodríguez Poleo delivered a message to sectors of the international left, urging them to stop idealizing the Cuban political system and to support the freedom of the island's people.
“Regardless of the embargo and what people think about it, it is time for the people of Cuba to be free and for first-world socialists to stop romanticizing the most damaging dictatorship in the modern history of the Western Hemisphere. Long live free Cuba!” he expressed on the social network X.
His statements come amidst the worsening crisis on the island, characterized by prolonged blackouts, shortages, and increasing signs of public discontent.
Rodríguez Poleo has been a critical voice against authoritarian regimes in Latin America, and on this occasion, she focused her message on challenging the narrative of international sectors that, according to her, downplay the reality faced by Cubans.
The statement also contributes to the global debate regarding the situation in Cuba and the role of the international community in addressing the demands for freedom and political change in the country.
