A motorcycle caught fire inside a house located on Sixth Street in the Sueño neighborhood of Santiago de Cuba, causing moments of tension among residents and a swift response from the fire department.

According to a report this Saturday by independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada on his Facebook profile, the incident occurred when the vehicle exploded within the confines of the house, creating thick smoke that alarmed the residents of the area.

After the incident, neighbors immediately alerted the firefighters, who arrived on the scene and managed to extinguish the flames before the fire spread to other areas of the house.

According to the report, there were no casualties or injuries, although the material damage was significant.

The motorcycle was completely burned up, and part of the patio area was affected by the fire.

The episode再次将与在古巴使用电动摩托车相关的风险摆上桌面,这种交通工具在近年来因燃料短缺和公共交通崩溃而大量增加。

In recent months, multiple fires involving this type of vehicle have been reported in various provinces of the country.

In November 2025, for example, an electric motorcycle caught fire in Fontanar, in the Boyeros municipality of Havana, an incident that was shared on social media and raised concerns among users.

Similar incidents have also been reported in Guantánamo, Santiago de Cuba, and Centro Habana, where an electric motorcycle caught fire on Avenida Galiano, causing explosions and forcing the interruption of traffic.

Another incident occurred in mid-2025 in the municipality of Mayarí, in Holguín, when a motorcycle started emitting smoke minutes after being parked, eventually engulfing it in flames, which required the intervention of firefighters and neighbors to prevent a greater tragedy.

Specialists and users have noted that many of these fires are related to battery issues, such as poor quality, prolonged charging, or informal repairs.

This is compounded by the unstable conditions of the electrical system and the lack of strict regulations for the use and maintenance of these devices, which are increasingly common in Cuban households.
