The United States Department of State issued a worldwide security alert urging its citizens to take extra precautions due to potential risks in various regions.

According to a statement published on the official travel.state.gov website, the advisory applies to Americans worldwide, with particular emphasis on the Middle East, where the security situation remains especially sensitive.

Authorities indicated that Iran-affiliated groups could target American interests or locations associated with citizens of the country in various parts of the world, raising the global alert level.

The statement also warns that U.S. diplomatic facilities have been targets of attacks, even outside the Middle East, and that there could be temporary airspace closures affecting international travel.

In light of this scenario, the Department of State recommended that citizens stay alert to the alerts issued by embassies and consulates, as well as carefully review travel warnings before traveling to any destination.

He also urged Americans abroad to enroll in the traveler registration program in order to receive updated information on the security situation.

The alert comes amid a context of rising international tension, which has led Washington to strengthen its warnings about potential threats to its citizens and interests abroad.

In February, the United States Department of State issued a global security alert in which it advised its citizens to exercise greater caution, particularly in the Middle East, following the launch of U.S. military operations in Iran.

In the official notice, shared through the TravelGov account and the travel.state.gov portal, Washington warned that Americans abroad should follow the guidance of the nearest embassies and consulates and remain alert for new security updates.
