Cuban reggaeton artist El Chacal opened up about one of the most challenging episodes of his life: his struggle with drugs, a phase that, as he confessed, profoundly impacted his personal and professional journey.

During an interview on Imaray Ulloa's podcast, the artist recalled that he started using substances at the age of twenty, in a context where social pressure and the desire to belong played a decisive role.

“Between the ages of twenty... I tried everything: marijuana, cocaine... all together,” he confessed bluntly. When asked about the sensations, he was unequivocal: “Destruction on the way.”

The interpreter explained that, at that moment, curiosity and the influence of the environment led him to make wrong decisions. “Sometimes you think you won’t get hooked, that you’re doing it to be part of the group, to stand out… and that’s where the problems arise,” he reflected.

However, he also made it clear that his story did not end there. Since July 2012, El Chacal claims to be completely free from drugs, a phase he considers behind him.

“Thank God, I’ve mastered that field and I’ve forgotten it,” he stated. For the artist, speaking openly about his past is not a source of shame, but a tool to help others.

"I have no qualms in saying it because I believe it is an important message for the new generations. Yes, it is possible to succeed," he stated.

Her statements come as a direct testament to the risks of consumption and the importance of being aware in a timely manner, especially among young people who may feel tempted by social pressure.
