A Cuban resident in Italy and connected to groups supporting the regime stated that she is willing to die in defense of Cuba in the event of an attack, according to a video shared on her social media from Havana.
This is about Ada Galano, president of the National Coordinator of Cubans Residing in Italy (CONACI), who made the statements during a live broadcast while participating in activities of the so-called solidarity convoy “Nuestra América”.
In the video, Galano reacted to reports circulating on social media about a supposed scenario of attacks against the island and expressed his willingness to stay in the country even under those circumstances.
"If the bombs were to come and I had to die here in my homeland, defending my homeland, then welcome be death," he stated.
The activist also stated that, should a conflict arise, she would join the armed defense of the country.
"I will also join my people and I will also ask for my rifle," he said.
His statements add to others made during an official meeting with Miguel Díaz-Canel, where he requested that AKM rifles be supplied to Cubans abroad who are aligned with the government to defend the system.
Galano stated that he spoke on behalf of Cubans living outside the island who support the regime, and he defended the actions of the convoy, which he said has transported medical supplies as part of its support.
The group "Nuestra América" brings together activists and foreign organizations as well as Cuban émigrés who hold a supportive stance towards the Government and engage in backing initiatives amid the crisis the country is experiencing.
The statements come against a backdrop of increasing tension and internal difficulties in Cuba, characterized by power outages, food shortages, and a decline in basic services, which has generated conflicting positions both inside and outside the island.
