A Cuban residing in Italy and connected to support groups for the regime publicly requested access to weapons to defend the political system on the island during a meeting with Miguel Díaz-Canel in Havana.

This is Ada Galano, president of the National Coordinator of Cubans Residing in Italy (CONACI), who made the statements during a meeting with President Díaz-Canel and the Our America Convoy to Cuba.

During his speech, Galano stated that he was speaking on behalf of Cubans abroad and made a striking remark: “Have our AKMs ready because just as we have come here with medicine today, we will come to take our AKM if necessary tomorrow.”

The activist added that “the good children of this homeland will never let them down,” in an explicit show of support for the Cuban regime from sectors of the emigration aligned with the government.

The event brought together members of the so-called convoy, a group of foreign activists and Cubans living in other countries who hold a favorable stance towards the political system of the island and engage in supportive activities.

The statements come in the context of a growing internal crisis in Cuba, characterized by shortages, blackouts, and an increase in social discontent, which has intensified both expressions of rejection and support for the government.

The idea of resorting to weapons to defend the system stands in stark contrast to the reality of millions of Cubans on the island who face daily hardships and lack access to basic resources.
