The president Donald Trump interrupted a cabinet meeting at the White House to ask, with evident enthusiasm, when Venezuela will erect a statue for him, overshadowing the energy topic being discussed at that moment.
The episode occurred on Thursday, when the Secretary of the Interior, Doug Burgum, was discussing the benefits of rapprochement with Venezuela for American consumers.
Burgum stated that, given the new relationship between the two countries, I literally believe they are going to erect a statue of President Trump.
Relations between the United States and Venezuela are "sailing smoothly." Venezuelan Vice Minister Oliver Blanco announced this Saturday that Venezuela has regained its diplomatic offices in the U.S., following instructions from interim President Delcy Rodríguez.
The announcement is the result of a process to normalize relations between the two countries that began after the capture of Nicolás Maduro on January 3, 2026, in the so-called "Operation Absolute Resolution," carried out by the U.S. Delta Force with the support of the CIA.
