A Cuban man recorded a video this Monday from the ruins of his home destroyed by a fire in Havana and to intervene and help change the political system in Cuba.
The video, published by journalist Oliya Scootercaster on the social media platform X, shows a man standing among the rubble of his home, with no possibility of rebuilding it because there are no materials or supplies available in Cuba.
The housing deficit in Cuba exceeds 929,000 units, a crisis that leaves thousands of families with no options in the face of tragedies like this.
We want Trump, the president of the United States, to take action that could help Cuba. Cubans, we want freedom, we want freedom, work, and a change in the political system," expressed the man, visibly affected from the ruins of his home.
Calls to Trump from the island are not new. Recently, residents of Havana woke up to signs that read We Trust Donald Trump and Long Live Trump, Cuba First, a reflection of the growing desire for change among the Cuban population.
Trump himself has sent signals to the Cuban regime, warning that in a short time, it will fail, and we will be there, words that have strongly resonated among those who, from within the island, are calling for international intervention.
The repression against those who dare to raise their voice remains a constant issue. According to human rights organizations, the man shown in the video has already been imprisoned before for expressing his opinions.
Additionally, Cubalex reported at least 14 arrests related to recent protests, highlighting the high cost that Cubans pay for claiming their rights.
