The National Ballet of Cuba received a donation of shoes sent by dancers from the San Francisco Ballet, primarily intended for students of the institution's Dance Chair.

The information was shared by the Ballet Nacional de Cuba on its Facebook profile, where it detailed that the donation was made by American designer Valeria Landau, who acted as the intermediary for the contribution.

Landau, daughter of filmmaker Saúl Landau, explained that she delivered the shipment on behalf of American dancers, who expressed their interest in supporting the training of young Cuban dancers.

Each pair of sneakers has an approximate value of 125 dollars, emphasized the statement.

During her visit, the designer was welcomed by Viengsay Valdés, the general director of the National Ballet of Cuba, and had a conversation with Mercedes Beltrán, director of the Dance Chair, who explained the current conditions in which artistic education is conducted and the impact that the donation will have.

The visitor also attended a rehearsal of the play La fille mal gardée, which is part of the company's upcoming presentation season in April.

Landau pointed out that traveling to Cuba in the current context entails difficulties, but he considered it important to maintain such initiatives due to their connection with the country and its culture.

The donation was made during a visit related to the Convoy Nuestra América, an initiative that involved transporting supplies from the United States to the island.
