The president Donald Trump posted a bombshell message on his Truth Social account this Sunday, threatening to attack power plants and bridges in Iran next Tuesday if the country does not reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
In the post, Trump wrote: "Tuesday will be Power Plants Day and Bridge Day, all in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it! Open the damn Strait, you crazy bastards, or you will live in hell. JUST WAIT! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP."
The threat comes just a day after Trump issued a 48-hour ultimatum on the same platform: "Remember when I gave Iran ten days to MAKE A DEAL or CLOSE THE STRAIT OF HORMUZ. Time is running out — 48 hours before all hell breaks loose on them. Praise God!"
On Saturday, Trump also confirmed a massive attack on Tehran and announced the elimination of several Iranian military leaders, sharing a nighttime video with visible explosions.
Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz on March 4 using mines, drones, and missiles, leaving about 2,000 ships stranded with 20,000 sailors and driving the price of oil above $115 per barrel.
The strait is the artery through which 20% of the world's oil and liquefied natural gas flows, making its blockade an energy crisis with global implications.
This new threat is part of the Epic Fury Operation, the joint military offensive by the United States and Israel against Iran that began on February 28, 2026, following the failure of nuclear negotiations in Geneva.
According to the Pentagon, the operation has degraded or destroyed 90% of Iran's missile capabilities and 95% of its drones, and has targeted over 5,000 sites within Iranian territory.
This Sunday, Trump also confirmed the successful rescue of the second crew member of the F-15E Strike Eagle that was shot down by Iran last Friday — the first loss of a manned U.S. aircraft on Iranian soil since the beginning of the conflict — describing the operation as one of the "boldest in the country's history."
Iran, for its part, rejected the ultimatums and responded harshly. General Ali Abdollahi Aliabadi described Trump's threats as "an impotent, nervous, unbalanced, and foolish action" and warned that the gates of hell will open for you".
