The Revolutionary National Police (PNR) announced this Wednesday the recovery of part of the cargo stolen in a robbery that occurred in the early morning of March 29 in Placetas, Villa Clara, where unidentified individuals took 110 boxes of imported chicken from a container belonging to the private MIPYME Hermanos Granela.

The operation, shared by the officialist profile "Héroes de Azul en Cuba" on Facebook, included a search at the home of an involved party, which resulted in the seizure of 131 packages of chicken weighing approximately two kilograms each, as well as the securing of evidence of criminal interest.

The recovered bags belong to the brand Morton, a Central American poultry company known in Guatemala and Honduras, which confirms the imported nature of the product.

The official report did not provide the exact number of detainees nor the monetary value of the stolen cargo.

According to the statement, "the actions of the PNR, in coordination with investigative bodies, once again demonstrated their response capability, technical preparation, and commitment to protecting the citizens' property and public peace."

The authorities stated that "the investigative actions are ongoing to fully clarify the case, identify all those involved, and bring them to justice."

Hermanos Granela is a private company based in Placetas dedicated to the importation and distribution of food, which also sells imported beans for 270 pesos per unit at more than 14 sales points in the area, below the regulated price of 300 pesos currently in effect in Villa Clara.

The theft occurs in the context of a profound food crisis in Cuba, where imported chicken is one of the most scarce and sought-after products by the population, making it a frequent target for theft and diversion.

Private MIPYMEs, established since 2021, have become the main importers and distributors of chicken on the island, filling the void left by the State due to the collapse of national poultry production.

This type of post from the profile "Heroes of Blue" is part of a communication strategy by the regime to project police efficiency, although it frequently generates critical reactions among Cubans, who question the true destination of the goods recovered in these operations.

A direct precedent occurred in December 2025, when a similar operation for the illegal sale of medications in Morón, Ciego de Ávila, sparked a wave of outrage on social media, with Cubans asking, "And now what are we going to buy?"
