The administrator of the Greynolds Park Club Condominium in North Miami Beach was arrested in the parking lot of the building she managed, accused of soliciting bribes from a contracted supplier in exchange for keeping him in his position.
María del Carmen Álvarez-Concepción, 57 years old, faces charges of soliciting and accepting bribes, organized fraud, and second-degree grand theft, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office.
According to Local 10, the case originated when a board member and owner of the condominium, located at 17890 W. Dixie Highway, contacted authorities to report irregularities in the management of the association's funds.
On January 23, that board member was contacted by a contracted supplier who revealed that Álvarez-Concepción was demanding cash payments and transfers via Zelle to avoid losing the contract with the building.
The supplier formally met with detectives in February and confirmed the initial information to the authorities.
The arrest report states that the board member "raised long-standing concerns about the defendant's exclusive control over multimillion-dollar contracts, lack of financial transparency, questionable charges, missing records, and the exclusion of certain board members from important decisions of the association."
According to the police, between March 7, 2025, and December 5, 2025, the woman repeatedly solicited and accepted bribes from the supplier, who delivered approximately $19,910 in cash and Zelle transfers.
Between February 18 and March 19 of this year, the accused accepted an additional $1,000 in bribes, bringing the total undisclosed payments to approximately $20,910.
All those payments were concealed from the board of directors and did not have the association's authorization, the authorities specified.
Álvarez-Concepción was arrested on Thursday afternoon and taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
When questioned, she "admitted to having accepted bribes while serving in her role as manager at the site."
According to reports from Telemundo 51, it was expected that she would appear before the bail court this Friday.
"This arrest reflects our commitment to protecting residents and holding accountable those who abuse positions of trust. We will continue to firmly combat fraud in associations within our community," said Miami-Dade Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz in a statement.
