Cuban reggaeton artist Yomil Hidalgo posted a story on Instagram this Sunday in which he refuses to give interviews to Cuban media and offers a direct critique of the dynamics that, according to him, dominate the social networks of the Cuban community.

In the post, the artist explains that several media outlets have contacted him for interviews, but he does not intend to give any for now: "If it's to talk about the same thing —gossip or music— I'd rather pass," Yomil wrote, adding that he would be interested in speaking with someone who "brings interesting questions to the table about emotional resilience, geopolitics, business, or relationships."

The singer remarked that this type of exchange "would cease to be an interview and turn into an enriching conversation," and that he prefers to wait "until more serious topics arise in the media."

The most contundent criticism of the publication points directly to the Cuban digital ecosystem: "Our community is saturated with gossip, radical politics, and 'cyber bravado'," and added that "we need content that truly contributes and has a positive influence on our people."

"I prefer to continue like this until more serious issues arise," Yomil concluded in his story, leaving the door open for future discussions, but on his own terms.

Yomil's critique goes directly to the Cuban community on social media and addresses the empty confrontations on digital platforms that he believes are so prevalent.
