Carlos Clavel Camejo, a retiree living on San Miguel Street, between Aguilera and Portuondo, in Santiago de Cuba, was reported missing on Saturday after leaving his home in the morning and not returning.
The alert was shared on Facebook by independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada based on information provided by the nephew, who confirmed that the entire family, including Carlos's wife, is actively searching for him.
Relatives are desperate after the disappearance of Carlos Clavel Camejo, who has not been seen since this morning. According to those close to him, he is not someone who usually goes out without notifying anyone, Mayeta reported.
"She is not someone who usually goes out without letting anyone know," she added.
Another family member confirmed that they have searched for him in all the hospitals in Santiago, and he is not in any of them.
Carlos left his house without a phone on him.
"At this moment, he is experiencing a slight mental imbalance," she specified.

This case adds to a series of disappearances of elderly individuals in Cuba that have raised concerns recently. Among them, Nelson Benites Torres, a 73-year-old with senile dementia, whose family also turned to social media to seek assistance in his search.
Another similar case was that of Engracia Martínez Peña, an 85-year-old with Alzheimer's, whose family also sought public assistance to find her. Likewise, Alcides Magdariaga Chacón, an 80-year-old missing since January 2024, was another case that touched the public's heart.
The recurrence of these situations highlights the institutional abandonment by the Cuban regime regarding cases of missing persons, forcing families to rely on social media dissemination and citizen solidarity to find their loved ones.
In Cuba, there is no early warning system, there is no dissemination in state media, and the police are repeatedly criticized for their inaction.
The absence of transparent institutional mechanisms continues to force Cuban families to search for their loved ones on their own, relying solely on a phone and a Facebook post as their only resources.
