Relatives of Engracia Martínez Peña, an elderly woman who has disappeared in Santiago de Cuba, have requested assistance in locating her.
The woman, 85 years old, suffers from Alzheimer's and is in a vulnerable mental state, reported on Facebook journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada.
Martínez Peña has been missing since Thursday after informing her husband that she would be traveling to Granma to visit a brother.
Engracia left her home, located in the Cobany building #29, between Anacaona and Mambí, in the Santa Bárbara neighborhood, Terraza Vista Alegre.
After contacting that relative, her husband confirmed that "she never arrived at her destination, which increases the concern over the possibility that she may be disoriented due to her medical condition. Her grandson, her husband, and her daughter are deeply distressed by the lack of news," Mayeta explained.
Anyone with information about the elderly woman can call 53 59785043, the contact number for Yadira Abdala.
"Every minute is crucial, especially when it comes to a person in a vulnerable situation," Mayeta warned.
Many commentators on Mayeta's post questioned the wisdom of allowing the elderly woman to travel alone, considering her medical condition.
The case adds to the growing list of reports of missing persons in Cuba, mostly elderly individuals and women.
Last week, family members of the elderly Balbino Braulio Lombillo Contreras, 87 years old, who has been missing since November 2, 2025, in La Coronela, La Lisa (Havana), sought help to find him.
