A tragic incident has shocked the city of Bayamo, in the province of Granma: a child who had been reported missing in recent hours was found deceased on the morning of this Monday, as confirmed by individuals close to his environment.

The sad news spread through Facebook in a post by a relative of the minor identified as Meli Aihnoa BM, who wrote a heartbreaking farewell message: "What a great void and pain you leave behind, my child, I can't believe it. So much pain and sadness, may God have you in glory, you will always be my giant, as I used to say. Rest in peace."

The post did not reveal the child's name or age. It also did not specify the causes of death or the circumstances surrounding it. In the comments on the text shared in the group "Ventas en Bayamo," several people claimed that their body had been found in a river.  However, so far, the authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the case.

The report of the discovery has generated thousands of reactions and comments on social media, mostly expressions of condolences from users shocked by the loss and solidarity towards the child's family. Additionally, many people have reflected on the need to enhance the vigilance and protection of minors in such a critical context for Cuban society.

The alert about the child's disappearance had been shared in the same Facebook group just a few hours before the news of the discovery of his body, which caused confusion among neighbors and users of the social network regarding the authenticity of the posts.

The case reflects a structural reality in Cuba: in the absence of an official early warning system for missing minors, families rely entirely on the viral dissemination of alerts on social media to mobilize searches.

In the days preceding this case, Cuba recorded at least two more disappearances of minors: Gael de Jesús Leyva, two years old, went missing in Guantánamo and was found alive after an intensive search; and Raimiel Salazar Cobas, 12 years old, was reported missing last Friday in Santiago de Cuba and was found safe two days later.

A case shook the Cuban community in October 2025 due to its tragic outcome: the disappearance and subsequent discovery of the lifeless body of the child Nelson Thiago García Lugones, five years old, in the town of El Chumbo, in the municipality of Alquízar, in Artemisa. The little boy was found in a well, after an unrelenting search that lasted for hours. Days later, the suspected person responsible for his death was arrested.
