The Cuban hammer thrower Emileidy Fis shared a thought-provoking video about her life philosophy on her TikTok account, which has generated a wide positive response among her followers.
In the clip, the athlete explains that she always answers "well" when asked how she is, regardless of the circumstances she is facing.
A friend of hers, who at times knows that Emileidy may be going through difficult situations, is surprised that her response is always the same.
The athlete argues that complaints do not lead to any solutions: “Complaining only brings stagnation, brings poverty, and makes life give you more of what you are complaining about.”
And it goes further: "I have learned that, as much as possible, complaining is pointless. It won't solve the problem, it won't change anything at all."
The second pillar of her attitude is treating others as she would like to be treated herself, which allows her to end each day with a clear conscience.
"I go to bed every day, thank the Lord, with a clear conscience. And when you lie down, that feeling of going to sleep with a clear conscience, knowing that you haven't harmed anyone... I wouldn't trade that for anything," he states.
The third element of his philosophy is gratitude, even in the face of adversity: "Above all, always be grateful. In this life, for everything. For everything. Even for the bad, my friend. We must be grateful for that too. Because there is a lesson to be learned from everything."
Emileidy notes that it's easy to express gratitude when everything is going well, but the true challenge comes during difficult times: "When we're doing well, we often remember God and express our thanks. But folks, we also need to give thanks when we're going through tough times."
His argument is that negative experiences, viewed with perspective, ultimately become part of the journey: "Thanks to that bad thing that happened to me at the time, look at me today, how I am or where I am."
The video concludes with a casual and nonchalant gesture: the athlete applies vaseline on her shoes before heading out, a detail that reinforces the approachable and authentic image she projects on social media.
Emileidy Fis is one of the best hammer throwers in the world and has represented Cuba in World Athletics Championships and Olympic Games, disciplines in which the island has a long competitive tradition.
Beyond sports, her presence on TikTok has made her a popular figure due to her charisma and positivity, connecting with an audience that recognizes traits in Cubans that distinguish them even after years of living outside the Island.
“I’m one of those who always says I’m fine, mostly because I treat others the same way and I try to treat them how I would like to be treated,” summarizes Emileidy, in a phrase that encapsulates her entire approach to life.
