The opposition leader José Daniel Ferrer issued a strong public warning this Saturday to the repressors and collaborators of the Cuban regime, stating that they will have no escape and urging them to break away from the dictatorship before it is too late.

In a message posted on his social media, the founder of the Cuban Patriotic Union (UNPACU) also denounced that the regime had ordered the burning of files of its own repressive forces, although he warned that copies of those documents already exist.

"They say the tyranny ordered the burning of files on officials from the repressive forces, but there are already several who kept copies of repressors and informants to have something with which to buy indulgences," Ferrer wrote.

The opposition figure also pointed out the social media profiles that attack those fighting for Cuba's freedom and keep their accounts restricted.

"Why is it that many of the profiles that come out to support the tyranny and to insult and discredit those of us who fight for the freedom of Cuba are restricted? Because they know that what they do is shameful and they want to avoid us accessing images and other information about them," he noted.

Ferrer also identified a more dangerous category of regime collaborators: those who operate without restricting their profiles from a position of "apparent opponents."

"These instruments of tyranny are a bit more cunning than those who perform the same work in favor of the regime from a position of apparent opposition to the dictatorship, and they do not restrict their profiles," he warned.

The message concludes with a direct ultimatum: "Repressors and informants will have no escape. You can be sure of that. The tyranny is falling soon. If you want to lessen your guilt, break away from the criminal regime now. It will be too late later."

Ferrer issues these warnings from Miami, where he arrived forcibly exiled in October 2025 along with his wife Nelva Ortega and their three children, after leaving directly from the Mar Verde prison in Santiago de Cuba.

From exile, the leader of UNPACU has maintained intense political activity. In January 2026, he directly warned Díaz-Canel to act before the imminent collapse of the system, and in March he publicly predicted a date for the fall of the regime.

He also supported the Trump administration's measures against Cuba as "a strong step towards the end of Castroism," and in April received a standing ovation in the Florida Congress alongside other Cuban opponents.

The repressive context on the island remains serious. The Cuban Institute for Freedom of Expression and the Press (ICLEP) documented 114 assaults on freedom of expression in January 2026 and 128 in February of the same year, highlighting a sustained escalation.

Ferrer spent more than half of the last twenty years imprisoned due to his activism. Upon arriving in Miami in October 2025, Secretary of State Marco Rubio welcomed him with the message: "Welcome to freedom, Ferrer", and called for the release of more than 700 Cuban political prisoners.
